I didn't go as hog-wild on books this year as I had in the past, but I did come home with a few new ones:

That's it; you'll surely hear more about them in the coming weeks.

I like the fact that the UBS reader's edition lists definitions in a column rather than one right after the other in a block paragraph, its much easier to find a definition.

In terms of Catholic commentaries on the PE, I'm curious to know what you think of Frank Matera's volume in the NTL?
If you have blogged about it already, soory, I just discovered your site).

Hi Patrick.

I'm unfamiliar with any work by Frank Matera specifically on the Pastorals. He did 2 Cor in the NTL (New Testament Library published by Westminster/John Knox) if Amazon is correct. Raymond F. Collins did the Pastorals volume in that series. Do you have the title and publisher of the Matera volume you're referring to so I can dig a little deeper?

Thanks!

Sorry, I meant Collins--got my mental wires crossed--both are Catholics.

What do you think the chances of us getting Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old in Libronix anytime soon? That's the only hope that is keeping me from purchasing it.

Hi Jacob.

Sorry, I have no idea on if/when the commentary will make it into Logos Bible Software.

Hi Patrick.

I haven't actually read Collins' work; only about it — though I should probably break down and read it sometime. I don't agree with his take on authorship and therefore I don't agree with other issues such as provenance, addressees, and the like. I'm sure there is good stuff in there, but where exegesis depends on appropriately situating the epistle, I'm afraid we'd be at odds.

Hope it helps.
