I’ve been meaning to mention this for awhile, but I wanted to point out William Varner’s upcoming commentary on James. (Thanks to Dr. Varner for sending a copy of the cover)
William Varner, The Book of James, A New Perspective: A Linguistic Commentary Applying Discourse Analysis.
My understanding is that it is to be published by Kress Biblical Resources sometime this year. I’m looking forward to examining it and perhaps being able to offer some thoughts about it here on the blog after it is published.
(BTW, I’d have linked directly to the book but do not find it either on Kress’ apparently search-box-free site or on Amazon.com yet)
Also know that Dr. Varner has a blog and has recently posted some excerpts and thoughts on the Apostolic Fathers. You might want to check it out. And he’s also published a good introductory commentary on the Didache (amazon.com).
Thanks for your work, Dr. Varner!
