Pastoral Epistles Study: Indexes
Based on data that I have either created or have access to and have munged, I plan on creating several different indexes to the Pastoral Epistles.
Indexes
- A Concordance of the Pastoral Epistles Ordered By Semantic Domain. This is a concordance of all adjectives, nouns, and verbs in the PE, ordered by Louw-Nida domain and subdomain (then in canonical order within each article reference). This is a rough draft and has not been checked or reviewed. (2004-07-05)
- Infrequently Occurring NT Words in the Pastoral Epistles. This is a canonically arranged listing of words that appear five times or less in the NT, as they appear in the Pastoral Epistles. Links are to the LDLS edition of the English Standard Version. If you have Logos Bible Software installed, the jumps should function properly. - A Concordance of Tri-Logs in the Pastoral Epistles. This concordance only contains entries for three-word phrases that occur more than once (each word in its lemma form) in the Pastoral Epistles. Out of 3270 potenial combinations of three-word phrases in these epistles, 141 occur more than once. Is this significant? I'm really not sure. I honestly don't think any conclusive information will come from this examination, but it seemed like a fun project (and fun code to write) so I figured I would at least start working on it. - A Concordance of Tri-Logs Held in Common Between the "Genuine" Paulines and Pastorals. This concordance only contains entries for three-word phrases (hence "tri-logs") that occur in both the so-called "genuine" Pauline Epistles (First Corinthians through Second Thessalonians) and the Pastoral Epistles (First Timothy, Second Timothy, and Titus). Out of 27,166 potential tri-logs in the combined corpus, 2408 occur more than once. Of those 2408, 280 are found in both the Pastoral Epistles and the balance of the Paulines. (2004-12-11)
