A Setback: Looks like I didn't mix some epoxy at the proper ratio. I don't have photos of everything, but essentially I ended up with some goopy resin that never quite cured. That, and I slopped it on way too thick. The only way out is to sand and re-apply. In this pic, you can see to where I've sanded through to wood in a few spots. This side of the boat is the better side, the other side may be much worse. We'll see. |

This is the same basic pic. Essentially, I ended up with some white weave that you could see even after applying resin. I thought it would wet out and be ok, but it wasn't. So, I decided to swallow my pride and just sand it down. You see what I've got post sand-down. |

So, in this spot, it seemed best to reinforce with another layer of glass. Note that (at least on this side) the problem only really exists at the tips. It leads me to think something went wacky while the end-pours cured. But it's too early to make that call; I think I've got more work on the opposite seam. It'll involve a lot of sanding and perhaps more fiberglass. Ugh. This will set me back at least a week. |
