Today was "moment of truth" day. Would the boat stay together as one piece even after I ripped the strapping tape off? The answer: yes. Woo Hoo! |
So, today was all about sanding the area where the two halves joined, to make sure all was smooth. |
Half of the tape is still on. But hey -- it looks like a boat! |
An even more boat-like shot. |
From the front. You can see the line where the two halves meet, look for the light stripe. |
Here it is, both sides un-taped and sanded. And it's still one piece! Here I'm getting ready to 'glass the left side. |
Here you can see where I sanded, and where the join is. |
Voilá! It's 'glassed! |
Here's a good shot of my feet, and also of the seam. You can see the weave of the fiberglass. I'll need to run another layer of resin to fill in the weave. |

The fiberglass tape is especially visible on the left due to the glare/angle. Next up: let it sit for the day, then do the other side. |
