Once again, two days of work crammed into one page of notes. This image is from August 27. The task is the installation of studs for the footpegs. Here you can see that I just duct-taped them in there to get an idea of where they should be. Hope I got it right. |

After marking the location, I pulled out the detail sander (thanks for the extended loan on that, Dale) and roughed-up the area so that the resin would adhere better. Then I slapped some resin on those areas, slapped some resin on the back of the metal footpeg studs, and clamped the suckers down. Then I let it cure all night. |

Here's the result, with the footpeg rail removed. The studs adhered. I actually was worried that they wouldn't, and had a backup plan ready to go. But it worked. |

The next step is to cover the metal with thickened epoxy resin. I've got some silica stuff that makes a good, lightweight fairing compound, so I used that. Yeah, it's an ugly color -- but this is going to be hidden, remember? |

And here are two of them. Note that I covered the threads of the studs with duct tape to keep epoxy from junking them up. The next step, after this cures, will be to sand the thickened compound down a bit, and then lay some fiberglass strips over them, reinforcing them that much more. I hope to do that on Saturday. |
