Here is a shot of both the hull and the bow. You can see some putty sections that still need some sanding. |

This is a close-up of the area where the yellow cedar meets the red cedar on the inside of the front of the deck. |

This is a closer shot of the inside of the cockpit coaming. This won't be visible to folks unless they really start looking the boat over. |

Since I needed some extra room to sweep the floor, the only logical thing to do to get the room was to pop the deck on the hull. It still fits pretty good, thankfully. You can see a gap along the sheerline. That will go away later when I actually tape the thing up to 'glass it together. But I've got much to do before that happens. |

Thinking I was just about ready to fiberglass, I decided to tape up the edges. The idea here (which I got from someone on the Kayak Building BBS, don't remember who) is to duct tape the edges. Then I doubled-over the tape so the sticky stuff is out of the picture. After 'glassing, hopefully, all I'll have to do is rip up the tape, and the edges will be clean with minimal clean-up left to do. Sorry, this one is a little blurry. |

This is the whole hull. If you look closely, you can see the duct tape running up and down each side. |

Then, the disappointment came. I missed a whole area of cracks near the rear of the inside of the deck. So, I got the wood putty out, and filled the cracks. This picture is a little blurry too. I'll let this dry (shouldn't take long) and I'll sand it tomorrow. If things go well, I hope to be able to 'glass tomorrow too. Stay tuned. |
