a hodge-podge of mish-mash … can you dig it?

After filling in the cracks, I sanded the whole thing down again, removing the excess epoxy schmutz. Then I wet down the whole boat. That is, I used a sponge to get the deck wet. Damp, actually. This has the effect of raising the grain of the wood and allowing one to see any remaining high (or low) spots. I think I did pretty good. This is a picture of the boat wet out prior to the second round of sanding. The color is similar to what it will be after the fiberglass and epoxy is applied.

This came out a little blurry, but I wanted to get a shot of how well the areash where the yellow cedar and red cedar joined at a point came out.

Must've had a problem with blurry shots last night. Here's another of the whole boat, after the second round of sanding.

Same angle, just a little closer. This turned out a little more clear.

A good shot of the front of the cockpit recess. You can see that this is turning out fairly well. I still need to figure out how I'm going to 'glass the thing (I've got some ideas, though) but overall, it looks pretty good. You can still see some of the residual moisture from the wetting-out of the boat on the left of the photo.

And a shot of the back of the recess. You can see I've had some problems here. The most basic problem has to do with the curvature of the recess. You can see that thick part. I need to sand it some more, and will most likely have to do it by hand. Apart from that area, however, the back looks pretty good too.
