I've filled in more of the center area with yellow cedar. I now know where the cockpit will be placed, so I don't need to lay strips the full length of the existing hole now, I simply need to ensure that they're sufficiently within the cockpit area. This speeds things up as I only have to fit one end of a strip in order to install it, not two ends.

A shot from the side. The blue tape reminds me of cockpit placement.

This is where the yellow cedar meets the red cedar on the bow end of the boat. You can tell that the strips are not parallel. This means I'll have to run two strips down the center, and then fill the remaining areas.

The two strips running down the centerline. You can see the clamps I'm using to apply some additional pressure while the glue sets.

Another view of the center strips.

And, one side with strips filled up to the centerline. You can see I essentially have 3/4 of the hole left to strip, and then it'll be time to start removing staples.

A view of the filled quarter from the side.

Another view, from an angle.

Finally, a closer view. Next I'll work on the opposite side, and then proceed to the back of the boat.
