a hodge-podge of mish-mash … can you dig it?

I've begun the process of stripping the last section of the deck. I'm using Alaskan Yellow cedar here, as opposed to the Western Red Cedar that I've used for the rest of the body.

You can see that the strips of yellow cedar are wider than the red cedar that I used. This was unintentional. The planks of yellow cedar that I purchased were 4/4 boat stock, and the grain was running the proper direction. It seemed easier just to rip 'em at an inch instead of futz around to get them down to 3/4 of an inch.

Stripping this part will proceed a bit more slowly than the rest of the boat. The curve is a bit more gradual, and the open "top" means that I have to come up with some way to add pressure to the ends that are too thin to staple. Here I simply used two "U" clamps and some leftover scrap strip to apply pressure.

Another example of the same type of clamping pressure.
