a hodge-podge of mish-mash … can you dig it?

I've got the basic outline of the design laid, as you can see in this picture from the bow. The "quarters" in the fore and aft will be filled with Western Red Cedar, while the big hole in the middle will be filled with Alaskan Yellow Cedar. As you can see, I'm not planning on getting too fancy here.

This is the stern of the boat. You can see where the strips join up. Some people may wonder why I didn't just bend the strips. I thought about it, but I decided that I wanted a sharper angle here, so I went this route.

A different look at the stern. This is where I'm using the darker wood. I'm planning on filling this part first, you can see that each "quarter" has a strip laid already, down at the bottom. I'm going to do one strip on each side as I go to ensure that the color stays somewhat uniform. I'm unsure if I have enough of the really dark stuff to fill both sides, so I want to make sure the look stays somewhat symmetrical. You can also see a problem in the centerline piece — it didn't stay glued together like I thought it would, it separated a little. I'm hoping to fix that with some epoxy/sawdust mixture when I begin to prep for sanding down the boat.

Another view of the side of the hull. You can see one of the dark strips just laid a little better here.

A look from the stern back up to the bow.
